I had these in the garden, the buds blossom one by one for about 15 days in a row in June/July. They blossom for a maximum of two days and by the second day they loose all their stamens. That’s when this picture was taken. When they are gone the purpose of the flower is gone and the petals will fall off. What’s left behind is a bud that’s packed with poppy seed. You dry them and after a couple of weeks you can open them. A couple of flowers produce a lot of little black seeds. We save them and put them in the ground again the next year in April.
