The downside of losing your lens hood is that you will have more les flare when taking pictures towards the sun. Lens flare is light from the different pieces of glass that make up your entire lens. All these lenses have edges and reflect a little bit, creating this chaos of light. It is collateral light that can be reduced with lens hoods, they don’t just block the sun but they also reduce the amount of reflection internally. In this case the flare is extreme and it so extreme, that I started to like it. It would be hard to reproduce the same effect if you want to and this is what makes pictures so great, it’s a one time click on a one time moment.
