M.C. Escher was a very famous and important graphic artist of the 20th century in The Netherlands. He is very famous for his liotgraphs, morphs and mathematical impossible drawings. His work is very well known and on some of his work there are endless stairs, or stairs with ‘wrong’ geometry. I know he spent some time in Italy and he got some of his inspiration from the Amalfi coast, but I cant help thinking he might nhave found the same scene as I did in Tuscany. This is ofcourse a 1% chance but I’m sure he visited places like this one.
