In photography, overexposed parts of a photo is called blowout. It’s easier to ‘turn’light into a picture than it is to reduce light. When you reduce light on blown out parts of a picture, you will get grey areas. So usually it’s better to underexposure picture than to overexpose. In this case, it was intentional.
